Murtala Muhammad International Airport is an international airport located in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria. The airport was built during World War II and is named after Murtala Muhammad.
The latest Reports claims that the Nigeria Union aviation sector have threatened to stop daily operations at the Murtala Muhammad Airport, Lagos on Wednesday over the sack of some employees rumored to be around Twenty who stated their interest to unionize.
Reports Claims that The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) stated that the unions had initially issued a Notice of Strike which was obtained by NAN on Tuesday and threatened to cut short operations at the Airport.
The unions includes;
Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE)
Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN)
The National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) and
Air Transport Services Senior.

October 5 was the date of strike threat, It was together signed by;
the General Secretary, ATSSSAN, Francis Akinjole,
General Secretary of NUATE, Olayinka Abioye, and
General Secretary, NAAPE, Ocheme Aba.

It was obviously enforced to the unions to issue notice owing to thew facts that BASL had refused to cooperate with the intervention of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and airport security agencies.
The Union also said that on or October 10, all services to MMA2, would be withdrawn unless the management reinstate all the affected workers fully without any form of deduction on payments.
Recognition of Unions is also part of the management responsibility to the unions and allowing free flow processes of unionization in BASL management in compliance with extant labour laws.

“With this notice, the entire aviation workers associated with MMA2, including the employees of BASL, are hereby informed to withdraw their services as above notified and join other members in the protest activities at the terminal on that date as from 6am.
“On this notice also, all businesses, including airlines are hereby advised to note this development and make alternative arrangements.
“In general notice, the entire public that has intentions to travel should seek alternative traveling points until things are resolved.
